Open Source UX should be uniquely "Open"
In this introductory position piece, we argue that the user experience for open source software should be different than that of closed-source software.
Why? When we extrapolated the goals of the open source community into the user experience, we began to see new, open design principles for the user interface. For example, when a user of your open source project is also a potential contributor, does your user interface allow her to "look behind the curtain" and see the moving parts or her place to contribute? |
