Character Design
These character mockups were created for a team that was designing educational materials for patients at a pain clinic. The character was originally expected to be simple and relate-able to the patients. This image was accompanied by documentation that explained my rationale for the shapes. Over the course of the process, I met the team's needs in narrowing down on arms and legs down to the details about the size of the pupils.

Playing Cards
For my card game engine, I needed traditional playing cards that scaled well to a small size and also retained all of the important symbols for cards (e.g. one-eyed Jacks). The smaller canvas proved to be an enjoyable exercise in minimalist design. [Take a closer look: OpenGameArt link]

Apparel
Having seen my work, the t-shirt company, Ownaj, approached me for the rights to create a shirt out of my video game art. The combination of Starcraft characters and pixellated style proved to be a simple and colorful contribution to their lineup of shirts.

Artistically, my creative output is both a personal passion and a facet of my technical work. My art is focused on storytelling. I am fascinated that a single image can communicate a rich narrative. I want to better harness this capacity to encapsulate. Following my past teachers, I continue to take stock in the idea that my technical work can be enriched by an artist's eye.

Poster Illustration
Produced to promote a lecture. I conceptualized and created the visuals for this poster in Adobe Illustrator.

Book Cover
These images come from the process of creating a book cover for a fantasy novel. The traditional, painterly style allowed me to wrestle with classic challenges of anatomy, form, composition and color.

Comics
These pages are drafts of a personal webcomic collaboration. "Ordinary Bruce" is a story of an unremarkable man whose closest friends were secretly superheroes. The script was written by Justin Louie.
